Guidance for Sikh Guests: Kirpans at Wembley Stadium

The FA has a Faith and Football Network, with representatives of all major faiths whom we consult with on a regular basis on matters of faith and football. We are open for further discussion with religious groups regarding religious attire should they wish to raise any issues or concerns.

Wembley Stadium Policy

Kirpans are permitted entry to the stadium with the following in place to uphold tradition, whilst respecting the public norms, and ensure the highest levels of Safety, Security and Service are delivered to all attendees at Wembley Stadium:

  • We encourage guests wearing a Kirpan to contact the stadium Customer Engagement Team in advance to support a smooth entry to the stadium - https://help.wembleystadium.com/support/home
  • The maximum permitted length of blade is 5 inches, though we encourage a smaller Kirpan to be worn.
  • The Kirpan must be worn as one of the 5 articles of faith (Kesh, Kara, Kanga, Kachera & Kirpan)
  • Worn under outer clothing, unobtrusive in public spaces and always sheathed, in line with religious requirements.
  • Wear with a secure Gatra strap that keeps the Kirpan close to the body
  • We encourage spectators to declare a Kirpan prior to search in line with the stadium search policy
